This Junior Product Development Engineer position reports to the Director of Engineering and Product Development and supports the entire product development cycle, from initial concept and design through to project execution and product improvement within the group. The successful candidate will contribute to managing and organizing development projects, support new product introductions and improvements to existing products, and provide technical support to both internal and external stakeholders.

Success in this role requires strong project coordination skills, technical problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to delivering reliable, high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Customer & Project Support

• Support internal and external customers throughout the project lifecycle—from technical enquiries to order processing—by helping prepare scopes of work, quotations, and work orders.
• Assist in gathering and organizing customer requirements to ensure clear communication with the engineering and production teams.

Product Development & R&D

• Contribute to the design and development of new products in collaboration with senior engineers, from concept through to market launch.
• Participate in the improvement of existing products to enhance performance, reduce costs, or expand their range of applications.
• Assist with project planning, including the preparation of technical estimates and tracking of timelines and milestones.

Technical Documentation & Standards

• Help prepare technical documentation such as product drawings, user manuals, diagrams, and specifications.
• Support efforts to obtain and maintain product certifications and ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., CSA, UL, CE).
• Coordinate with other departments (e.g., Purchasing, Production) to ensure proper execution and delivery of complete product packages.

Internal Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

• Work closely with colleagues across engineering, purchasing, production, and sales to provide technical support and ensure alignment with project needs.
• Liaise with consultants and technical experts as needed to obtain guidance or resolve specific challenges.

Technical Support & Training

• Provide basic technical guidance to internal teams and external partners regarding the proper use and features of company products.
• Assist in the preparation of product training materials and documentation for new or updated solutions.
• Participate in customer meetings or site visits to support the sales and applications teams, when required.

Qualifications & Skills

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field is required.
• Previous internship or co-op experience in industrial equipment design, preferably in air handling, dust collection, HVAC, or related systems, is an advantage.
• Willingness to learn and grow in a team environment is essential.

Key Skills

• Basic proficiency or exposure to SolidWorks, PDM systems, and ERP platforms (experience with Dynamics 365 is a plus).
• Fundamental understanding of sheet metal design, airflow systems, fabrication processes, and filtration technologies is preferred.
• Experience or Interest in new product development projects, ideally through academic or internship work.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
• Motivated, adaptable, and eager to contribute in a fast-paced, evolving, multi-entity manufacturing environment.
• Bilingual fluency in English and French (spoken and written) is required due to our Global company communication needs.
